Hotel
After the party in the hotel lobby,
but how do rappers pick their hot spots? Read
on.
[A partial excerpt]
Hotels and hip-hop got history. The Sugarhill
Gang gave us a classic joint when they spit about finding
a fly girl and getting it on at a hotel, motel, Holiday
Inn. Fast-forward 25 years later to an eager
young Cassidy rapping about sharing his hotel room
with a willing chick. Whether the hotel stay
is strictly for hot sex on a platter, relaxation after
a performance, temporary shelter during a hectic tour
schedule or simply for vacationing, hotels play a key
role in a MC's life.
While the ultimate luxury spot is a five-star hotel,
there's something to fit everyone's budget. However,
if you want to feel like a king for the night, impress
your date and get her in the mood, then you may want
to check in at one of the best: Trump Taj Mahal,
Four Seasons, L'Ermitage. Once you're there,
make sure you get the ideal room.
"I get the Presidential Suite. There's a waterfall
in the room," say Memphis Bleek. For $2,000 a
night Bleek unwinds at the Trump Taj Mahal in Atlantic
City. "I get the biggest room out there. (The
hotel managers) show me love. Probably 'cause
I lose so much money (gambling), but it's cool. That's
my best hotel. Or you can do the Four Seasons."
If your pockets aren't quite ready for such high-priced
rooms, then do like dead prez's M-1, who spends $150-$165
a night and recycles his money in the community. His
favorite spot is the black-owned Akwaaba Mansion bed & breakfast
in Stuyvesant Heights, Brooklyn. "I enjoy it
because I like to be in the hood and supporting my
people," he says. Other Akwaaba locations are
in Cape May, NJ and Washington, DC. Rooms with
Jacuzzis are available.
